Final Rites Conducted For Frank G. Sanders. Frank G. Sanders, a prominent farmer in the Higley area who had been a resident of this community since 1919, died, Sunday morning at the Community Hospital in Chandler a the age of 58. Funeral services were conducted this morning (Wednesday) at 8:30 o'clock from the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert C. Whitaker officiating. Masonic grave side services in the Mesa Cemetery were conducted by members of Chandler Lodge No.34. Serving as pall bearers were Clifford Floyd, Roy Lockhart, John H. Jacobson, Lloyd Spraggs, Billy Speights. Newell Fuller, Ralph Yontz and Tom Kunce. The Shrine Mounted Patrol in a body served as a honorary guard. Mr. Sanders was born in Pierre, S. Dak., on November 6, 1907. He came with his family to Chandler when he was 12 years of age and attended local schools. He was a member of the Class of 1925 of Chandler High School. He had farmed in the Higley area since 1935. Mr. Sanders was a member of the OX-5 Club, a group that flew the World War I OX-5 planes after that war and became a pilot instructor serving prior to World War II at Thunderbird Field: Mr. Sanders held the rank of captain in the Army Air Corps and the Air Transport Command. In the early days of World War II he was a Royal Air Force pilot instructor at Falcon Field. Captain Sanders was stationed in Moscow for six months during the second war and was the pilot of the plane which transported Averill Harriman, U.S. Ambassador to Russia. His affiliations included the Chandler Lodge No. 34 F and AM, the El Zaribah Shrine, the Shrine Mounted Patrol and the Sojourners Club of Phoenix. He is survived by his wife, Ada M.; daughter. Mrs. Edward G. (Lyn) Manley of Northridge, Calif; two sons, Frank C. of Phoenix and George G. of Higley; his mother, Mrs. Grace C. Sanders of Glendale; two aunts, Mrs. K. M. Gilbert of Chandler and Mrs. Guy Schooler of Carlisle, Ia., and three grandsons.
