Elizabeth E. "Bessie" (Williams) Hoff was born to her loving parents Warren Tilford and Rachel Jane Allen "Allie" (Houston) Williams on Tuesday May 11, 1886 at Alda, Hall County Nebraska. Bessie grew to womanhood in this area. Bessie was united with the Methodist Church when she was a young girl of fifteen and she remained a steadfast Christian throughout her life. Bessie attended the Baptist College at Grand Island, Hall County. Bessie took nurse's training at Fremont, Dodge County and she graduated in 1908. Bessie practiced nursing until her marriage. Bessie was united in marriage to Albert Hoff on Wednesday June 21, 1911 at Alda, Hall County, the couple were blessed with an adopted daughter over the years of marriage. Once married Bessie was of much assistance to her husband practice as a nurse. The Hoff's built a lovely modern home on Ninth and Main Street at North Bend, Dodge County which they continued living until their deaths. Bessie was a member of the Eastern Star, Royal Neighbor Lodges, and the P.E.O. Sadly Bessie passed at North Bend of a prolonged illness of heart disease and complications on Wednesday afternoon April 17, 1940 a few minutes before 3p. Bessie was 53 years, 11 months, 6 days of age which does not include her last day, she lived a total of 19,699 days. Bessie's funeral service was held at the Methodist Church on Saturday April 20, 1940 at 2:30p with the Rev. Lind officiating. Bessie was interred in the Woodland Cemetery at North Bend.
