Joseph C. Farlin, whose sudden death we mentioned last week, was born 4-10-1851 and died 9-9-1887. His age therefore was 36 years and 5 months. He was married November 23, 1876, at Morton, Tazewell County, Illinois to Ellen P. Roberts, who, with two children survives him. Mr. Farlin was a man whose noble traits of character made him many friends, and won him the esteem of all who knew him. He was quiet and unassuming in manner, and of strict integrity of life. A member of the M. P. Church, he died in the Christian faith, and the stricken ones who mourn his death do not mourn as those without hope. Faithful and true in life, he was ready for the sudden summons, and has gone to his reward.
