Edited obit: Mrs. Sarah A. Proctor, mother of W. E. Proctor of this city (Gibson City, Ford County, Illinois) died on Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. P. Roberts, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, after a brief illness from bronchitis. The remains were brought to Gibson on Saturday. The funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Proctor Sunday afternoon, Rev. C. C. Bliss of Lovington, Illinois, her pastor in Rutland, Illinois, having charge of the services. The remains were interred in the Gibson Cemetery by the side of her departed husband, who preceded her about four years. Mrs. Proctor was born at Sudbury, Vermont, 2-22-1829, making her age 78 years, 7 months, and 11 days. Her maiden name was Sarah A. Hewitt. She was raised in Vermont, and was married to Willard Proctor at Rutland, Vermont on 3-10-1847. To this union were born eight children, of whom five survive, and were present at the funeral, as follows: Mrs. Ellen Ames of Marcus, Iowa, W. S. Proctor of Stewardson, Illinois, Mrs. W. P. Roberts of Sioux Falls, SD, F. E. Proctor of Albion, Illinois and W. E. Proctor of Gibson City. While a young woman Mrs. Proctor was converted to the Advent faith, first uniting with the First Day Adventists, but later when she lived in Illinois she became a Seventh Day Adventist. Mrs. Proctor moved in 1879 with her family to the present site of Proctor, four miles south of Gibson, and lived there until the death of her husband, which occured 12-9-1902. Since that time she had been spending her rapidly declining years visiting among her children.
