Dee Rathbone, age 87, of 1245 Wesley Creek Road, Fines Creek Community, Clyde, died Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Britthaven of Clyde.

He was a native of Haywood County and was the son of the late Oscar and Florence Price Rathbone. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Sutton Rathbone, who died in 1994 and by two brothers, Gaither and Milas Rathbone.

He is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Cooper of Waynesville and Elsie Rathbone, of the home; three sisters, Mary Lou Lowe and Faye McElroy, both of Fines Creek and Ruth Jenkins, of White Oak; one brother, Glenn Rathbone, of Fines Creek; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at the Shelton Laurel Salvation Army Mission, of which he was a member. Brigadier James Henry, Captain Kenny Clewis, Major Sherman Cundiff, Major Sam Bivans and Reverend Jimmy Moore will officiate. Burial will be at Lower Fines Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2002 at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville. At other times the family will be at the home of the daughter, Evelyn Cooper, 104 Conley Street, Waynesville.

The pallbearers will be Rodney Moore, Bill Jenkins, Jimmy Gibson, Johnny Lowe, Ray and Ed McElroy, David Presnell, Ted and Roger Rathbone, Joe Price and Tim Woods.
