Ben Bidwell of Redmond died peacefully at home with his family by his side after losing his battle with cancer.
Ben was born in Athens, TN, on April 26, 1932, to Joe and Katie Bidwell.
His family came to Albany, OR when Ben was 6 years old.
Ben wore hats of many trades. He was a rodeo clown and bullfighter for many years. He worked shows all over the West Coast states including Nevada, Idaho and Montana.
After he retired from rodeoing, he went to horse-shoeing school in Oklahoma and was a farrier for many years.
Ben, bred, raised and showed game birds all his life. He had many trophies and wall plaques that he had been awarded for his chickens.
Ben is survived by his wife of 53 years, Claudette; two sons, John of Redmond, and Kevin of Bend; three grandsons, Bruce and Chad of Redmond and Jacob of Mississippi and a granddaughter, Nateal Bidwell Lively of Springfield, OR. Also a brother, Walter Bidwell of Terrebonne.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral Services were held Monday, December 8, 2008. Deschutes Memorial Chapel was honored to serve the family.
