Esther Mae Widmer, RN, daughter of Christian G. and Elizabeth (Rediger) Widmer, was born near Wayland, Iowa, Mar. 22, 1905; died at Wayland, Iowa, Nov. 30, 1971; aged 66 y. 8 m. 8 d. Surviving are her mother and 8 brothers and sisters (Katie - Mrs. Clarence Roth, Henry, Mary - Mrs. Raymond Wenger, Paul, Frieda - Mrs. Edwin Freyenberger, Reuben, J. Glen, and Daniel). She was a member of the Iowa City Mennonite Church. Memorial services were held at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in charge of Orie L. Roth.

Another memorial service was held at the Iowa City Mennonite Church Dec. 12, in charge of Ed Stoltzfus; interment in Sugar Creek Church Cemetery.

Education: Goshen Academy, 1927;

Esther graduated from La Junta (Colo.) Mennonite School of Nursing in 1930; Private duty, Trinidad, Colo., 1930 - 1931; Nurse, Washington Co. Hospital, Washington Iowa., 1931 - 1934; Goshen College, B.A., 1937. Educ. Dir., Washington Blvd. Hospital, Chicago, Ill., 1937 - 1940; Dir. of Nurses, Menn. Hospital, Bloomington, Ill., 1940-; was member of the La Junta Nursing School Board in 1947.
