Bill was born in Choctaw County, Ark., on June 2, 1927, to William Samuel Rhoades and the former Thelma Lorraine Crawford and married his wife Vivian Patterson on July 6, 1943. They were married for 60 years.
Bill joined the Navy at the age of 16 and served until the World War II was finished.
He moved to Klamath Falls and was employed as a millwright by Weyerhaeuser Co., Thomas Lumber Co., and Klamath Lumber & Box during his 46 years as an edgerman.
Bill loved fishing, hunting and camping. He greatly enjoyed talking to people and lending a helping hand whenever possible. Bill was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
His colorful and exciting accounts of adventures growing up in the hills of Arkansas will remain endeared to all who had the opportunity to listen.
Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife Vivian and sons Dale and Johnny Rhoades.
He is survived by his children Bonnie and Melvin Reeves of Cottonwood, Ariz., Bradley and Deb Rhoades of Klamath Falls, Tammy and Ray Hoelscher of Boston, Mass., Melody Rhoades of Klamath Falls, and Lolita Rhoades. Also surviving him are 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
