August 18, 1867, he was married to Mary Frantz, a native of Clark County, Ohio. Her parents were born in Virginia, and she is one of ten daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Cripe have had five children, of whom four survive, viz., Sarah, John, David and Edna. He has a fertile farm of 120 acres, upon which his father-in-law settled in 1841.
The premises have good buildings, including a large brick residence of modern architecture. Himself and
family are members of the German Baptist Church.
