Nellie Scruggs Brown, 101, of High Rock Road passed away on Friday, November 21, 2008 at Blumenthal Jewish Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born on August 21, 1907 in Campbell County, VA to the late Edward Coleman and Ella Eades Scruggs and was married to the late Porter Wesley Brown. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and was the oldest living member at Apple's Chapel Christian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Lucille Brown Pickrell of Gibsonville, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sons, Warren A. Brown and C. Newman Brown; son-in-law, Thomas B. Pickrell; twin sisters, Mary Scruggs and Martha Dudley and brothers, Henry and Jerry Scruggs.
