Once more the angel of death has cast its gloomy pall over this community and called from this earth life the sweet spirit of Mrs. Duane Rich Davis, wife of J.W. Davis, after a period of intense suffering from heart trouble and complications super induced by an attack of flu, from which she suffered in March. Since when all that faith, medical skill and loving hands could do, was done but to no avail and Wednesday May 2nd she was called to depart from this life surrounded by her loved ones and friends whose hopes are shattered and future is bighted by the early untimely demise of this most estimable lovely wife and mother.
Mrs Davis was the daughter of the late Hyrum S and Angelia Rich. She was born in St. Charles, Idaho January 24, 1893.
December 26th 1914 she became the wife of John w. Davis from which there were eleven children born, nine of whom survive, two infants having preceded her in death. She is also survived by her husband, mother, four sisters and two brothers.
One very sad feature is that Mrs Davis is the fourth child in her mothers family to grow to adulthood and leave a family to survive, and her father Hyrum S Rich, preceded her in death just one year.
The sympathy of the entire community goes out to Mrs Rich who has been called to mourn so frequently and may faith and turst in the God who doeth all things well, buoy her up in this hour of sore trial.
Funeral services were held in the South ward Chapel May 3rd at 10:00 a.m. Bishop George Kennington was in charge of the services.
Speakers were Bishop Osborne Low Ozro Gardner, and Ben Nield. ll of whom eulogized the life of the deceased, her nobility of character, and her patience and love manifested in the rearing of her family,. her faithfulness and devotion to duty as a wife and comrade.
The speakers offered words of comfort and consolation to the bereaved, expressing the hope that the peace which God alone can give may come to them in this hour of sorest affliction and assuage in some measure this, one of lifes bitterest trials.
Musical renditions were conducted by Ernest R. Clark, Mrs Gean Harrison rendered "What Voice salutes the Startled Ear".
Prayers were by George a. Hale and A. H. Linford.
Interment was in the Afton Cemetery.
E.N. Allred offered the dedicatory prayer.
