Peoria, IL - Carson Franklin Abbey, 72, of Peoria passed away at 10:49 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Carson was born April 4, 1936, in Peoria, a son of David and Cecelia Bamber Abbey. He married Shirley Montgomery on Oct. 19, 1957, in Peoria. She survives.
He also is survived by three sons, Bill (Kimberly) Abbey, Jason (fiancee, Angela Gallinger) Abbey and James Abbey, all of Peoria; one daughter, Christine (Roy) Simpson of Peoria; eight granddaughters, Leanna Abraham, Cassandra, Carla, Tara, Keya, Amanda and Julia Abbey and Katie Simpson; one grandson, Shawn Simpson; five great-grandchildren, Jason and Sebastian Simpson, Angela Abbey, Zander Royer and William Dowell; one brother, Richard (Betty) Abbey of Peoria; and two sisters, Marilyn (Homer) Brubaker of Peoria and Nan (Roger) Benecke of Le Roy.
Carson was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Phillip.
He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 28 years, retiring in 1994.
Carson was a member of UAW Local 974 and the former Howett Street Christian Church in Peoria.
He was a veteran in the United States Air Force at end of the Korean War.
There will be no services. Cremation rites have been accorded.
The Wilton Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
