POWELL, Mary Ann Forster died at home in Clearwater, on Nov. 20, 2008. She was born on Jan. 11, 1920, in Baltimore, MD, to William and Mary Graham. She was the youngest of two children. Her brother, William Graham, died at age 89, in 2007. Mary Ann graduated from Randolf-Macon Womens College, Lynchburg, VA, in 1941. In 1943, Mary Ann married Marine CPT Malcolm Smith, a graduate of West Point, class of 1943. Mac was a Marine P-47 pilot who was later shot down and died in Normandy, France, during WWII. Mary Ann and Mac Smith had one child, Susan Smith, born Feb. 29, 1944, who died in 1945. Two years later, Mary Ann moved to Mackinac Island in Northern Michigan and married Henry Forster in Detroit. Mary Ann and Henry Forster had two children, Henry Forster III and William Forster. Mary Ann adopted Henry Forster's two children, Sally Forster and Lynn Forster. Following the death of Henry Forster in 1972, Mary Ann married a long-time family friend, Bernard Powell. They lived in Clearwater, for 34 years. Mary Ann and Bernie Powell were involved in many philanthropic activities including Morton Plant Hospital and Morton Plant Child Care Center and Learning Center, Clearwater. Mary Ann was a member of St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, Clearwater. She is survived by her sons, William Forster and Henry Forster III; daughter, Lynn Roth; daughter-in-law, Vikki Forster; grandchild, Jeremy Forster; daughter-in-law Rita Forster; grandchild, Tracy Roth Wadas and her husband, Darrell Wadas, MD; grandchild, Whitney O'Neill and great-grandchildren, Zachary Wadas and Liam O'Neill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Powell; her parents, William and Mary Graham; her first husband, Malcolm Smith, her second husband, Henry Forster; her daughters, Susan Smith and Sally Forster O'Neill, and her grandchild, Julie O'Neill. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Clearwater. Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home 727-796-1992
