RUDD - Frank James Onken, 80, of Rudd, died Thursday (April 24, 2008) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center-Hospice Unit in Osage.Frank was born June 11, 1927, in Orchard, the son of Enno and Jennie (Rademacher) Onken, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. After high school, he served time in the army, being stationed in Japan. On Dec. 18, 1949, Frank was united in marriage to Ruth Lundene. They farmed in the Rudd area until his retirement.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery.Visitation is from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, and will continue one hour before services at the church.Frank is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Rudd; and their children, Dianne (Ronald) Casto of Mason City, Richard (Barbara) Onken of Rudd, Dwight Onken of Osage, and Barbara (Duane) Smith of Osage; five grandchildren, Pamela (Joe) Rowe, Laura (Rodney) Arcenas, Amy Smith, Melanie Onken and Scott Onken; three great-grandchildren, Jade and Jaxson Arcenas and Adler Rowe.He is also survived by two sisters, Jennie Adams of Osage, and Donna Onken of Omaha, Neb.; and two brothers, Arthur Onken of Osage, and James (Jean) Onken of Osage.Frank was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald; two sisters, Martha and Dorothy; and six brothers, Walter, John, Edward, George, Eno and Keith.
