Services Tomorrow for Ova R. Stanfield

Ova R. Stanfield, 80, passed away about 4:00 o'clock Monday evening, July 21, in the Sullivan Masonic Home, Sullivan, Illinois. He was a prominent civic leader in Clark County, a retired teacher, a retired business man, having owned and operated Stanfield's Grocery in Martinsville for twenty-four years. He sold the store to Dale and Jeanne McClellan October 16, 1945.

Ova was born April 9, 1895 in Clark county, the son of Otto and Effie (Cornwell) Stanfield. He married Leah Baker, March 11, 1916 who preceded him in death, February 8, 1970.

Surviving are two sons, Max of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Merlin Lynn of Athens, Georgia; one daughter, Marian Fitzjarrald, Marshall, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was a member of the United Methodist church and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was a member of Clark Lodge 603 AF and AM.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the Greenwell and Son Funeral Home, Martinsville, with Rev. H. J. Kemp officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 4 until 9 p.m. Wednesday. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
