CHARLES ROSS DIES, SERVICES THURSDAY

Charles Ross, 74, of 602 West Ave., died Tuesday afternoon at Pershing Memorial Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bowden Rhodes Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Memory Gardens.

Charles Wesley, son of Homer Charles and Elizabeth Libby Ross, was born Oct. 24, 1904 in Purdin. On July 26, 1913, he married Freda Mae Mordecai in Linneus.

Mr. Ross is survived by his wife, of the home; one daughter and son in law, Effie May and Jack Cordray, Brookfield; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Ellen Cordray, Brookfield; three brothers, Harley of Brookfield, Virgil of Marceline, and Herbert Ross of Independence; six sisters, Edna Brill, Louisburg, Kan., Agnes Caldwell, Hooks, Tex., Mary Jacobs, Shawnee Mission, Kan. Helen Curtis, Waukon, Iowa, and Esther Ward also of Waukon, Iowa.

He wa preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Frances Turner.

Mr. Ross was employed by Brown Shoe Company as an inspector for 45 years. He was also employed as a policeman for the city for Bookfield for three year.s

He was a member of the Boot and shoe Local #5219 and the black Jack Pershing Campers.

Visitation begins at 7 o'clock tonight at the funeral home.
