Mary L. Townsend, 101, Rockford, Ill., formerly of Tellico Plains, Widow of William P. Townsend, died 9:05 p.m. last Saturday (July 31) at her home.
She is survived by daughter, Mrs. Cebe (Edith) Hysmith; sons, Ulyss, Rockford, Charles and William Townsend, both of Gastonia, N.C. 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Mark Postell, Pittsburg, Pa; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded indeath by two sons, Roy and Ray Townsend.
The body was at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Tellico Plains, where the family received friends 10-11 a.m. last Wednesday. Funeral service 2 that afternoon in Biereley-Hale's Chapel, Rev. Beecher Miller officiating.
Interment in Tellico Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
