Mary E. Waltrip, 77, Monett, died at 12:20 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Lacoba Nursing Home, Monett.
She was born March 28, 1931, in Purdy to Sam and Lucy (Loyd) Schaffer. She married Melvin Waltrip March 10, 1947. He died Dec. 24, 1992.
She retired from Con-Ag Foods in Carthage. She was a member of New Site Baptist Church, Monett.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Stark, Weableau, and Liz Tuell, Monett; five sons, Melvin E. Waltrip, Aurora, Wayne J. Waltrip, Carthage, George S. Waltrip, Purdy, and William J. and Marvin H. Waltrip both of Monett; four sisters, Lucy Waltrip, Zelby Loyd and Effie Rice, all of Monett, and Lucinda Eden, Purdy; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and a few great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, George Shaffer, and one sister, Dorothy Williams.
Services were Monday, Nov.24, at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home with the Rev. Aaron Wieble officiating.
Burial was in Oakdale Cemetery, Monett.
