LaVonne Marie Meskimen, age 82, of Rochelle, Il. formerly of Independence, died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at her daughter's home in Rochelle.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids with Rev. Steven J Rosonke as Celebrant. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg,
She is survived by three sons, Doug Meskimen and wife Margaret of Urbana, Steven Meskimen of Dekalbm Il., David Meskimen and wife Pam of Shabbona, Il., two daughters, Mary King and husband Al of Rochelle, Il., Ellen Hustad and husband Jeff of Jefferson, Wi., eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren and her brother, Bernard Butler and wife Betty of Punte Gorde, Fl.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Orlie Leroy in 1973.
LaVonne was born on January 15, 1921, near Independence to Guy Edward and Mary (McCardie) Butler.
On October 1, 1947, she married Orlie L. Meskimen in Dubuque, Iowa. The couple lived in San Francisco, while Orlie was in the service. Following his discharge, they lived in Maquoketa for fourteen years and later moved to Genoa, Il., where LaVonne worked for Anaconda Wire in Sycamore, Il.
LaVonne moved to Rochelle to live with her daughter in 1979.
