OBITUARY

Ruth E. Baker Coppock, daughter of
Cassius and Sophia McDaniel Baker,
was born April 8, 1896 and died June
21, 1925.
Ruth was the oldest of a family of
ten children; one brother, Cassius
Baker, who died in the navy hospital,
and a sister, dying in infancy, pre-
ceded her, leaving her parents and sis-
ters, Frances Nott of Hamilton, O.,
Mildred Snodgrass, Beech Groce, Iva
Underwood, Sara, Ellen and Laucelott
A. Baker of Martinsville and a broth-
er, John Baker, stationed in Pearl
Harbor, Hawaiian Islands, to mourn
her departure.
Ruth was a member of the Church
of the First Born and was adopted
into the kingdom of God at the age
of fifteen. She accepted Christ as her
Savior and clung to Him throughout
life. The morning she died, she said,
"O! mother, why am i so happy this
morning? This is the most glorious
morning that has ever dawned upon
my head. Bless God for this beautiful
morn. Praise His holy name."
Ruth was by nature an artist and
poet, always seeing the beauty of life,
no matter how gloomy the situation.
She bore her afflictions and death in
the same cheerful spirit.
She was married to Monteray Cop-
pock of Elwood at the age of eighteen
and has made her home in Indianap-
olis sence, except a few months of
their early married life which was
spent in Pittsburg, Pa.
Monte died two years ago. No chil-
dren survive this union.
Ruth was a woman of wonderful
character, a true friend, a loving
daughter and sister, and a true and
faithful wife. In so much that she
sacrificed he own beautful life that
Mont might have every care and at-
tention while on his bed of affliction.
She was his constant nurse night and
day for seven long months. But the
task was too great for her frail
strength and she quickly succumbed
to the same fatal disease. What love
is greater than this, that we give our
life one for another. Ruth was also
a woman of reliable business ability.
