One of Star Valley's Oldest Pioneers Dies

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Rogers Clark, 87, one of the oldest living pioneers of Star Valley, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her sister, Mrs. Celestia Clark Teton, Idaho after a brief illness.
Mrs. Clark was born Nov 28, 1857, at Hyde Park, Cache county, Utah a daughter of Thomas and Ann (Evers) EVANS Rphgers/ Sje spent her early childhood at Hyde park and Benson ward in cache Valley, Utah and in December 1876, was married to Edmund Semour Clark at Benson, Utah.
Following their marriage, the couple lived for a while at Benson, and later moved to Weston Idaho, 1890 Mr and Mrs. Clark and their family moved to Star valley, here Mrs. clark has continued to live.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mrs. Clark was active in temple work during the winter months in the Logan and St. George Utah, L.D.Sl temples.
Four of 12 children survive, in including Henry T. and Marcus John Clark and Mrs. George Thompson, of Etna, Mrs Frank Ellis, Ogden; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Celestia Clark, Teton, Idaho and Mrs. Martha Olsen, Burley, Idaho.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the Etna L.D. S. ward chapel by Wilford A, Clark bishop. Burial will be in the Afton cemetery.

Star Valley's Oldest Pioneer Buried At Afton Friday
Elizabeth Ann Rogers Clark, 89 Star Valley[s oldest pioneer died Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the home of her sister Celestia M. Clark at Teton, Idaho.
Mrs. Clark was born November 28, 1859 at Bountiful, Utah, a daughter of Thomas and Ann Evans rogers. She spent her early childhood at Hyde Park, Utah. In December 1876 she married Edmund Seymour Clark at Benson, Utah. They lived for a while at Bensen and later moved to Weston, Idaho. In 1890 Mr and Mrs. Clark and their family moved to Star valley, settling on a farm north of Afton, later they moved to Etna, there were only a few places taken up at Etna at that time and most of the land was covered with sage brush.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was active in temple work in the St. George and Logan temples. Only four of her twelve children survive . they are, Henry T. and Marcus J. Clark of Etna, Mrs. George Thompson, Etna and Mrs Frank Ellis of Ogden, Utah. She has 25 grandchildren, five of whom preceded her in death, and ten great- grandchildren. Two sisters, Celestia Clark, 85, of Teton, Idaho and Martha Olsen, 82, of Burley, Ida.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the Etna
ward chapel with Bishop Wilford A. Clark officiating.
The opening song "A Perfect Day" was sung by a ladies chorus with Mrs. Ruth Clark acting as accompanist. the invocation was offered by Lorin Roberts, a member of the Etna ward bishopric.
The first speaker was Wilford Burton, after which a ladies duet composed of Mrs. Alta Sanderson and Mrs. Walter Brower sang, "Mother of Mine", Reva Luthi acted as accompanist.
The next speaker for former bishop Osborne Low, after which Eldon Hyde accompanied by Ruth Clark played a violin solo, "O My Father"
The concluding speaker was President Delos Gardner, a member of the Star Valley Stake Presidency, after which Ernest Turner sang "That Wonderful Mother of Mine"
The closing remarks were offered by Bishop Clark after which Ruth Clark sang "Goin Home" accompanied by Dixie Sanderson.
The benediction was offered by Ardell Ames.
Interment was in the Afton cemetery under the direction of Hansen Funeral Home, and the grave was dedicated by Calvin Bateman, a former bishop of the Etna Ward.
Her 11 grandsons were her pallbearers and honorary pall bearers: Doyle Thompson, Ronald Clark, Lyle Clark, Jack Ellis, Wayne Ellis, Jimmie Clark, Keith Thompson, Norman Clark, Allen Clark, Elden Clark, and Junior Clark.
Flower girls were nine of her granddaughters:
Laura Clark, Oreen Clark, Eula Clark, Nelda Clark, Erma Jean Call, Colleen Clark, Aloha Thompson, Jackie Thompson, and Leonora Clark.
