Ben was a stone carver. He came to Stockton from Canada in about 1884. After 1900 he formed a partnership with Ed Kramer. When Kramer retired in 1919, Ben continued as the active manager of the Woodhull Monumental Company. He retired 4 years prior to death, due to ill health.
Ben married Emma "Edie" Watrous on 28 January 1890 in Stockton. Ben and Edie had only one child, Raymond who died when he was 32. There were no other descendants.
