Alta Lea Abanathy
WASHINGTON, Mo.

Alta Lea Abanathy, 75, of Washington died Tuesday, Aug 7, at St John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis.

Born at Pocahontas, she was a homemaker and member of the Pyburn Street Church of Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as worthy matron of the Washington Chapter in 1973.

Survivors include three daughters, Johnnie LaValle of Union, Mo; Linda Beckman of Beaufort, Mo; and Carla Chitty of Overland Park, Kan; a brother, Pete Wright of Oregon, Ill; two sisters, Louise Wright of Washington and Nancy Whitlock of Lake Placid, Fla; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas, with James Arvil Knotts officiating. Burial will follow in the Spikes Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
