Sarah Augusta Murphy Bishop was born in Morgan county, O., Jan. 24, 1862. She was blessed with a Christian home and under its influences early chose Christ as her Savior and at the age of 11 years united with the M.E. church at Pleasant Hill. Her life since had been spent in doing Christian work in Sunday school, church, the home and community.

She was married to Rev. S.J. Bishop Jan. 1, 1885. Her first years of married life were spent on a farm in Morgan County. In 1889 Mr. Bishop entered O.W.U. at Delaware and for the next few years their home was a center for many students who wanted home influences they could not find at boarding places. For 21 years she had been the devoted mistress of the parsonage and her husband ‘s helpmate in the ministry. Her death occurred Nov. 28, at the parsonage in Derby where they have lived three years.

She leaves her father and mother, one sister, a husband and five children, Homer, Herman, Grace, Hamline and Olive, the latter two of whom are sick with typhoid fever and were not able to see their mother at or after her death. Funeral services were held at Derby November 30, and the final service at Carroll December 1st, interment being made at Carrol.
