John R. Kelley was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Ogdensburg, son of Harold and Dorothy Rivers Kelley. He attended St. Mary's Academy and served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.
He married Shirley Marie Glover on June 18, 1954, at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. J. Everett Denesha officiating. The couple lived all their married life at their Flackville home.
Mr. Kelley was a tool and die machinist at Acco from 1961 until retiring in 1989.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Cathedral and a member of Ogdensburg Elks Lodge, and enjoyed fishing.
