He enlisted in the United States Army October 13, 1942 and earned the rank of Private First Class. He was in campaigns and battles in Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arne, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. Homer received The European, African and Middle Eastern Citations and Decorations. He was discharged from his tour of duty on October 21, 1945 and became a veteran of World War II after three years of active service to his country. Homer was a farmer and for over 30 years he worked as a mechanic at Maxwell Ford Motor Company in Pauls Valley; retiring in 1980. On July 4, 1946 he and Mary Holt were married in Gainesville, Texas. The Beaty Community has been his home all of his life. He was a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was very active in the Beaty Community. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Lucy Cleveland and Allene Poyner; and four brothers, Carl Beaty, John Beaty, Guy Beaty and Leonard Beaty. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2008 with the Rev. Stephen Reid officiating.
