Robert H. Alberson, 80, of Las Cruces, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006. He was born Nov. 24, 1925 in Las Cruces to James F. Alberson Sr, and Florence I. Berrier.
Robert was a veteran of the US Navy where he served his country honorably and earned the American Area Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal and the WW II Victory Medal. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked to hunt and fish, he also was a farmer in the Mesilla Valley and was a founding member of the Mesilla Valley Model Airplane Club. Robert was a member of First Baptist Church and will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him.
He was survived by his loving wife of 59 years Ogemia Alberson of the family home. Daughters Sharon Erwin of Las Cruces and Beth Powers and husband Steve Pixley of Albuquerque, NM. Brothers David M. Alberson and wife Pauline and twin brother Roy A. Alberson and wife Corkey all of Las Cruces. Sister Mary Irene Swartz of Des Moines, Iowa. Grandchildren Davis P. Erwin and wife Zoreh, Miles Erwin and wife Amy, Sarah and Cameron Powers and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by two brothers James Alberson Jr, Kenneth Alberson and by son-in-law Dan Powers.
Funeral Services were held at First Baptist Church with Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers will be members of Mr. Alberson's family.
