Funeral services for the Rev Charlemagne Stephenson, 83, retired Baptist Minister of Clarkston, who had preached for almost 60 years will be held at 3 pm Tuesday at Trinity Chapel. The Rev Solon C Couch will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Rev Stephenson died Sunday night in a private hospital.

He was born in Lithonia, one of 11 children. He attended Mercer University in Macon and was ordained at the Philadelphia Baptist Church near Klondike. He later served at Macedonia, Tanner, Porterdale and Liberty before preaching for many years at Clarkston. He retired about 20 years ago and had worked as a carpenter and farmer since then. His brother, the late Rev J J Stephenson, was a well-known preacher in DeKalb County.

Surviving are his son, Calder W Stephenson of Los Angeles, Calif, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Mrs Asa G Candler Jr and K A Stephenson of Atlanta.
