Leonard was the husband of Nancy (Longenecker) Boring 1839-1920

He was the son of Isiah Boring and Mary (Boring) Boring

He served in the Civil War-11th , PA vols Co D , He enlisted March 12,1864 at Greensburg, PA and March 24, 1964 was transferred to Co G 11th PA vols INF. He took part in the Battles of the Wilderness, Petersburg, Lauren Hill and Richmond. He was discharged July 11, 1865 at Washington, D.C.

ANOTHER SOLDIER GONE: LEONARD BORING DIES AT HOME IN JACKSON Twp.
Leonard Boring, aged 73, and a veteran of the Civil War, died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home in Mundys corner, Jackson Two. His death was due to diseases incident to old age. Mr. Boring was born in Pine Twp., Indiana County, in October of 1837. In 1867 he was united in marriage to Nancy Rodkey. She survives him along with the following children; Mrs. Sarah Jane Long and Nora at home; Bertis, wife of Robert Hunt, Conemaugh; Katie, wife of Milton Litzinger, Conemaugh; Margaret, wife of Herman Fisher, Conemaugh; and Thomas, Conemaugh. Zenaida Mae, a daughter died in infancy. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren. Mr. Boring was a member of Co. G. Pa Reserves. The Funeral will be held from his late home tomorrow, but exact hour has not been announced. Internment will be in Mundy's Corner Cemetery
