Charles Bacon, 56, died Monday morning, January 15, 2007, at the Community Hospital in Vidalia. The Toombs County native had lived in Reidsville for 15 years, recently moving back to Vidalia. He was retired from the Farm Service Division of the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was a member of Hope Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Bacon; and his parents, J. C. and Hazel Bacon.
He is survived by his son, Lee and Jennifer Bacon of Reidsville; two daughters, Rachel Ailstock of Pratt, Kansas; and Amanda Bacon and Sylvester Singleton of Lyons; a brother, Fred Bacon of Vidalia; two sisters, Renee Gaskins of Nashville, Tennessee; and Melanie Taylor of Vidalia; an aunt, Bobbie Callahan of Lyons; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, at Lyons First Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Randy Callahan. Interment was in Little Flock Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mitch Taylor, Brian Smith, Gerald Cox, Bob Bacon, Stanley Holland, and Chris Crawford.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home of Reidsville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
