She married William Keifer 14 Feb 1948 Remington, IN.

Dorothy I. Keifer, 83, of Lafayette, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Home Hospital.
She was born July 22, 1925, in Remington, to the late Gustav and Eunice Nussbaum Knochel.
She graduated from Remington High School in 1943. She received her bachelor's degree in social studies from Purdue University in 1968, then received her master's degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University in 1970. She did her field work at the Veterans Hospital in Jackson, Miss.
Following high school she was a secretary at the Biddle Insurance Agency and then worked at the VC Fertilizer Plant, both in Remington. In 1971 she went to work at the VA Hospital in Danville, Ill., and retired in 1990.
On Feb. 14, 1949, she married William B. Keifer in Remington, and he preceded her in death in 1959.
She was a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority, and was a life member of the Purdue Alumni Association. She was a devoted Purdue football and basketball fan for 35 years, and also a Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed ceramics and needlepoint, and traveled to all 50 states and many foreign countries. She volunteered at the homeless shelter. She owned a cottage in Fountain Park and enjoyed the Chautauqua season.
Surviving are a sister, Luella K. Glick of Lafayette; and a brother, Arthur B. Knochel (wife: Donna) of Remington.
Also surviving is her beloved dog, Pixie; 20 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews and a host of cousins. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Lucile, Helen and Marjorie; 6 brothers, Raymond, Fern, Allen, Maurice, Glen, who died in the Korean War, and Richard; and a nephew, Charles Knochel, who died in the Vietnam War.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday with service 10 a.m. Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., the Rev. Brian Nelson officiating. Interment at Remington Cemetery.
