Mrs. Daniel (Gertrude) Gates, 78, of 518 N. White (sic)died Thursday morning at her home. She had been in poor health for the past two years.

Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. D. Kenneth Hicks will officiate. burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery. visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Gates was born March 27, 1898, at Beloit, the daughter of John W. and Emma Ridgley Fears. She came to Grand Island with her family when she was a small child and received her education in Grand Island schools.

On Oct. 24, 1918, she married Daniel Gates at Hastings. They made their only home in Grand Island. They were employed for more than 30 years by the Jack Donald Sr. family.

Mrs. Gates was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband and her mother.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.
