Zedia Myrtle Campbell was born June 28, 1897 in Cape Fair, Stone County, Missouri. Her parents were John Brookhart Campbell and Sarah Jane Breeding. John Campbell died when Zedia was 12 years old. After his death, Sarah moved her family to Webb City, Missouri.

Zedia married James Edward "Ed" Hensley on November 26, 1913 in Webb City, Missouri. Ed was a miner. He and Zedia continued to live in Webb City. They had four children: Lloyd Edward, born October 13, 1915; Clifford Lee, born April 18, 1917; Helen Ivon, born April 6, 1919; Delores Mildred, born December 10, 1921. Ed was hurt while working in the mines, he never recovered from his injuries and died on March 25, 1923 at the age of 31. Zedia was 26 years old. She continued to live in Webb City and found work at Carthage Marble northwest of Carthage, Missouri.

Zedia married Howard Leon "Lee" Hodkin on April 26, 1924. Zedia and Lee moved northwest of Carthage to Marion Township. They had four children: Betty Lee, born April 11, 1926; Wanda Mae, born April 28, 1928; Mary Frances, born May 19, 1931; Jo Ann, born June 3, 1936. Lee was a carpenter and started his own construction business in 1943.

Lee and Zedia enjoyed fishing and took an annual fishing trip to Balm Lake Resort at Pinewood, Minnesota for many years.

Zedia died July 5, 1965 at McCune Brooks Hospital in Carthage, Missouri.
