Halcyone Nettie Kenyon was oldest of four children born to Delancy Kenyon and Laura White. She had two sisters, and a brother who died in infancy. Her early years were spent on a farm in Carroll Co. Illinois. Her father had served briefly during the Civil War, and never fully recovered from the illness he contracted. In the mid-1880s the family decided to go to Pomona, California in the hopes this would improve her father's health.

In the late 1880s the family went to Tacoma, as it was the end of a railroad, and there would be economic opportunity. Her parents opened a boarding house. Delancy died in 1892.

The 1890 city directory shows that Halcyone and her sister Edith were employed as "ironers" for the "The Pacific Laundry and Steam Company." Edith married one of the proprietors, George Shipton Jr.

While in Tacoma Halcyone married William M. Krider on April 8, 1893. Their son Lanta was born in Spokane, Washington in 1897.

Halcyone's sister Edith and her husband had returned to his home in Pittsfield Massachusetts in the early 1890s. William and Halcyone, as well as Laura Kenyon, also went to Massachusetts for a few years, as the 1898 city directory shows William there employed as a carpenter. In May of 1899 Halcyone lost boy and girl twins who had been born prematurely and were stillborn.

The following year Halcyone and William moved to Ritzville, Washington, where William's brother Alfred was living. Halcyone's mother Laura also went, and took out a claim about ten miles from Ritzville.

William worked on the railroad line that ran between Spokane and Coeur d'Alene, and also was a wheat farmer. He died in 1906.

On May 27, 1911 Halcyone remarried to sheep farmer Harris Crampton, who had a farm in Adams County, about thirty miles from Laura's claim. Halcyone's mother Laura died in 1916. Harris died in 1926. After his death Halcyone lived with her son Lanta.

Halcyone died in 1957, and is buried with her two husbands, her mother and her son Lanta.
