Mary Helen Brandon McCullough died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at Brian Center, Mooresville. She was born Jan. 16, 1913, in Gaston County, the daughter of the late Joseph Clarence Brandon and Laura Lee Peters Brandon. Mrs. McCullough spent the early years of her life in Cramerton, where she graduated from Cramerton High School. She was a member of the Bentonville Chapter of the UDC in Mooresville. At the time of her death she was the oldest member of First Presbyterian Church in Mooresville, where she was also a member of the Women's Bible Class and Circle #1. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gryder McCullough; brothers, Howard, Reece, Craig and Ray; and sister, Minnis Harrison. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy M. Smith and husband, John, of Mooresville; granddaughter, Laura S. Vaughn and husband, Deron, of Huntersville; and brother, J.W. Brandon of Los Altos, Calif. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Memorial Park. A memorial service celebrating the life of Mrs. McCullough will follow at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Fred Coates and the Rev. Tyler Domske officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Men's Bible Class, 249 W. McLelland Ave., Mooresville, NC 28115. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the family of Mary McCullough.
