Eloyse Alice Barg, 81, of rural Park Rapids, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at St. Joseph's Area Health Services in Park Rapids.

She was born March 7, 1927 in Arago Township, Hubbard County, to Edward and Alice (Broadbent) Horstman. She attended District 33 and 21 country schools, both located in Arago Township. As a young woman, Eloyse ventured to Minneapolis where she worked at the Robin Café. Later she went to California where she did domestic work for several San Bernardino area families. She returned to Park Rapids in 1946.

On March 22, 1947 she married Frederick Barg. They had seven children. The couple made their home in Arago Township where they raised their family and farmed for more than 40 years.

She attended Faith Baptist Church in Park Rapids.

She is survived by four daughters: Phyllis (Hank) Berwald, of Marietta, Ga., Laurel (Dallis) Miliander, of Grand Rapids, Linda (Wayne) Warmbold, of Park Rapids, and Marlene (Curtis Hawks) Barg, of Park Rapids; two sons: Wilbur, of Park Rapids, and Frederick (Melissa), of Stacy; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Ardith Schneider, of Park Rapids, and Edythe (Raymond) Duenow, of Fergus Falls; one brother, Bruce (Irene) Horstman, of St. Paul Park; two sisters-in-law: Beatrice Hermanson and Juanita Dow; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick; daughter, Priscilla Thorpe; great-grandson, Matthew Cox; sister, Donna Hensel; and sister, LaVonne Horstman, who died in infancy.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. today (Wednesday), Nov. 19 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service.

Funeral service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Faith Baptist Church in Park Rapids, with Rev. Russ Paulson officiating.

Casket bearers: her grandsons: Aaron Miliander, Joshua and Louis Berwald, Rod "R.J." Thorpe, Jerry Warmbold, Mitchell Barg and Cory Hawks.

Interment: Arago/Clover Evergreen Cemetery north of Park
Rapids.
