Obituary: "Rachel E. Simpson Services Held At Thornfield Wednesday. Funeral services for Rachel Elizabeth Simpson, 81, Thornfield, were held at 2 P.M. Wednesday at Thornfield Chapel, Thornfield, with the Rev. John Haskins officiating. Burial was in Thornfield Cemetery under the direction of Clinkingbeards of Ava.
A lifelong resident of Thornfield, Mrs. Simpson died at 5:26 P.M. May 3, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, following a long illness. She was a housewife and a Christian.
Born Aug. 18, 1910, at Rome, Mo., she was the daughter of John and Adeline Evans Jennings. She married Basil Simpson on July 28, 1934, at Ava.
Survivors include her husband, Basil; one sister, Nora E. Turner, Ava; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and eight brothers."
