COOK--Captain John Joseph Cook, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile and who resided at 1104 Selma St., died at a local hospital Saturday night, Sept. 19, 1953, at 6:55 o'clock. Funeral services will be held at the Roche Funeral Home Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock followed by services at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church at 9 o'clock with Mass. Interment will be in the Magnolia Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Hitchcock Cook; two sons, J. Joseph Cook and G. Rodger Cook; four daughters, Mrs. L.A. Jackson, Mrs. J.V. Geary, Mrs. J.W. Taylor and Mrs. G.W. Sherrin, Jr.; a stepson, Fred N. Smith; four sisters, Mrs. W.P. Manders, Mrs. Clara Wilson, Mrs. Estelle Steber and Mrs. Ernest Bolling; 16 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral arrangements by Roche Mortuary.

Funeral services for Capt John Joseph Cook, who died Saturday were held at Roche Funeral Home Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock followed by Mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church at 9 o'clock. Rev. Fr. James F. Madigan conducted the services at the funeral home and the grave and celebrated the Mass, with the following priest in the sanctuary; Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.R. O'Donoghue, V.G.,; Rt. Rev. Msgr. James F. Byrnes, Rt. Rev. Msgr. D.P. Harnett, D.D.; Rev. Fr. Frances O'Connor, Rev. Fr. E.F. Conlin, S.S.E., and Rev. Fr. Harold Sherman. The Pallbearers were: Active--A.F. Norquist, E.C. Ash, Capt. Albert Wilson, Capt. W.W. Smith, T.L. Cook and Erik Overbey; honorary--Alex Mareno, Pete Smith, W. Wilson, Frank Giuli, Capt. T.D. Walsh, Capt. Dave McKay, Peyton Norville, N.D. Cunningham, Capt. M.T. Jackson, Capt. W.C. Mareno and Capt. W.P. Manders, Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Roche Mortuary.
