A native and life-long resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Floyd and Grace Louethel Rich Grant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Crayton Ruben Childress, who died in 2005; one sister, Betty Jo Freeman; and two brothers, Jack and James Grant.
She was employed for 18 years at Haywood Regional Medical Center as a nursing assistant.
Georgia was an active member of Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church.
Georgia especially loved to spend time with her family and also loved to can vegetables and work in her flowers.
She had a very gentle soul and was warm and kind-hearted. She had a wonderful memory and could recall special details about her family's lives.
Burial will follow at Ratcliffe Cove Cemetery.
