Helen Irene Bernaix, age 89, of Percy, IL passed away on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 6:30 a.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital Emergency Room, DuQuoin, IL.
Helen was born on September 17, 1919 in Centralia, IL, a daughter to William A. and Sarah Elizabeth (Schade) Campbell. On February 6, 1937, she married Harry E. Bernaix in Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on April 28, 1986. She was a homemaker and had formerly owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Pinckneyville, IL and Sparta, IL. Helen attended Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL for many years where she was a Sunday School teacher, and was a current member of First Baptist Church of Cutler and the Rebekah Lodge. She was a loving grandmother who always enjoyed her family.

Survivors include her son: Michael (Joyce) Bernaix of Percy, IL, daughter: Janet Robinson of DuQuoin, IL, step-sister: Mary "Polly" Scholebo of Santa Claus, IN, seven grandchildren: Jon, Toby, Timothy, and Aaron Robinson, Sherri Killion, and Rodney and Matthew Bernaix, and twenty great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Clifford A. Campbell, half-brother: John Schade, three sisters: Mildred Campbell, Hazel Bolch, and in infancy, Caroline Campbell, and two step-sisters: Theresa Tanner and Marie Freeman.

Funeral services will be held at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Toby Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
