Inez Henson was born on July 4, 1935. The eighth child of thirteen children born to William and Celia LaGrone, she became the fifth daughter of a family of farmers who lived in Perry County; near Marion, Alabama, in the Heiberger Community Area.
Mrs. Henson marries Jackson Crockett Averette in 1952, and they raise four sons; Jessie, Jimmy, Ronnie, and Randy. They remain married for 42 years before her husband who was called J.C., passes away in 1993. She meets the second love of her life in 1995, Rev. James Charles Henson and they are married soon after.
Throughout her lifetime Mrs. Henson is successful in many things; a working mother and housekeeper, a loving wife to the only two loves she has ever known, an accomplished producer, musician, vocalist, and creator of various crafts. But it is her accomplishments in the writing of numerous gospel and country songs, many of which are published and recorded by studios such as Rainbow Records, Shambling Studios, and Hollywood Recording that are perhaps her greatest achievements.
She and her new husband continued to record and produce gospel and country music videos, audio tapes, and compact disk, as she continued to spend her time writing poems and short stories during her lifetime.
In 2006, a novel featuring Mrs. Henson's life entitled "Echoes of Memory, the life and times of Inez Claralee LaGrone" was published, and in 2007 Mrs. Henson teams up with the author of that book, R. L. Averette; and co-authors her first book entitled "Musings; A Collection of Family Poems, Songs, Stories and Sayings." In 2008, only a few months prior to her death, Mrs. Henson sees the publication of her second and final book, which is the sequel to her first Musings book, "Musings II; A Continued Collection of Family Poems, Songs, Stories and Sayings." Both books are published by Author House Publishing of Bloomington, Indiana.
Mrs. Henson, throughout her lifetime, served both God and the church faithfully, and she was a tireless and active mover and shaker for the church in which she had remained a loyal member of all her life, Mount Zion Gospel Church. May she rest in peace in the loving arms of Jesus Christ, who was without a doubt to all who knew and loved her, clearly her Lord and Savior.
