James P. Brazell, Sr., died at his residence in Savannah on Saturday, December 31, 2005.

The Tattnall County native had lived in Rincon and Savannah most of his life.

He was a farmer, and retired from Seaboard Atlantic Coastline as an engineer. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Harris Brazell, and a grandson, Daniel Harris MacDonald.

He is survived by two sons, James Parks Brazell, Jr., of Savannah and John Clary Brazell of Thunderbolt; two daughters, Winnifred "Wendy" MacDonald of Cochran and Ann Wilkerson Newton (Warren) of Savannah; one sister, Jackie Lumpkin of Reidsville; two brothers, M. F. Brazell and Edsel O. Brazell, both of Reidsville; 12 grandchildren: Nancy Rowland, Sherry Stallworth, James Brazell III, Johnathon Brazell, Casey Brazell, Wendy Wilkerson, Jay Wilkerson, Shannon MacDonald, Brian MacDonald, Patrick MacDonald, Michael MacDonald, and Colleen MacDonald; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2006, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sterling Bargeron officiating.

Interment was in Reidsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Johnny Igou, Eddie Brazell, David Brazel, David Wayne Igou, Jerry Brazell, Keith Brazell, Warren Newton, and James Parks Brazell III.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home of Reidsville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
