John Butler Barnes, 63, of Wesley Graceland Gardens, employee of Memphis Auto Recovery, was found dead Sunday, July 7, at his home.

He was a Navy veteran from the Korean War era. He contracted tuberculosis while in the service and was in a hospital for many months after his release.

He leaves a daughter, Linda Bugg of Memphis; a step daughter, Shawn Ritchie of Honolulu, HI; two sons, Dennis Patrick Barnes and Kerry Michael Barnes, both of West Palm beach, FL; three sisters, Mable Ruth Ellis of Bradenton, FL, Billie Jean Foran of Eagle Point, OR and Florene Olivi of Walls, MS; two brothers, Thomas Barnes of Bradenton and Harold Barnes of Victorville, CA; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Thomas and Eva Florence Barnes, a sister, Virginia Ann Barnes and a brother, Robert Earl Barnes. Two other siblings died at birth.
