Dale J. Bowers, 57, of Stedman Road, rural Ionia, died at his residence Friday evening.

Born in Ithaca, Mich, March 29, 1925, he was the son of Charles and Dessie Vance Bowers. He attended rural schools in Montcalm County and Sheridan High School.

He was married to Sara Chipman March 1, 1947, in Grand Rapids.

They had have lived on their present farm since 1953. Bowers was for many years a milk hauler, for the Carnation milk Plant in Sheridan and for the Michigan Milk Producers Association Plant at Ovid. He was a member of the Ionia Moose, the Michigan Brown Swiss Association and was a former committeeman for the Agriculural Stabilization Conservation Service.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Danny, of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs Jeffery (Teresa) Mallison of Ionia; two grandsons and one granddaughter; three brothers, Arnold of Greenville, Clare of Orleans, and Ivan of Fenwick; and Mrs. Francis (Neve) Hoile of Leesburg, Fla.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home, the Rev. Marvis Hale of Grace Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Palo Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Grace Baptist Church, Orleans, in the care of the funeral home.
