Herbert LeRoy Coy
Herbert LeRoy Coy, 89, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, in Greenwood. He was a resident of Greenwood.
He was born March 31, 1914, in Indianapolis. His parents were John Samuel and Della Myrtle (True) Coy. He married Lillian Blanche (Kaufman) Coy on June 22, 1939. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Melvin Coy of New Whiteland, Richard Coy of Marana, Ariz., and Dennis Coy of Rosebud, Mo.; a daughter, Dorothy Jackson of Valparaiso; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was employed by Shuron Continental Optical Co. as a machinist for 37 years, retiring in 1976. He was a union shop steward. He was also employed by the Daily Journal as a route manager in the late 1970s.
He attended New Whiteland Christian Church and served as past president of Roswell, N.M., AARP.
A service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at N.F. Chance Funeral Home, 504 E. National Ave. in Indianapolis. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in White River Township.
