Funeral services will be held for Aristia Ann (nee Karagunis) Schlesinger at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Cedarburg at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. A private burial will take place on Monday at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Krause Funeral Homes and Cremation Service in Milwaukee is serving the family.
Ann was born on Aug. 31, 1926, daughter of the late Peter and Effie (nee Papageorge) Karagunis. She was married to Fred Schlesinger in 1955, but he preceded her in death in 1981.

Anyone who met Ann knew how proud she was of her Greek heritage. She was a longtime member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Wauwatosa. When the church festival took place, Ann could be found Greek dancing well into the evening, only to return the next day to dance again. Ann was the secretary to the assistant dean at the UWM School of Engineering for many years, and easily made friends with the students, earning her the reputation of someone who went "above and beyond" to help all of them. Ann loved shopping and going out to eat, but she loved nothing more than babysitting and spoiling her grandchildren. She showed the deepest love and commitment to her three daughters throughout her life.

Ann is the beloved mother of Linda (Mark) Lengling, Nancy Wolfe, Diane (Kevin) Kennedy; and the proud yia yia of Melissa, Meghann, Keri, Ben, Peter, David, Andrew and Christina. She is also survived by her two sisters, Connie Wells and Goldie (Darrell) Helgens. The legacy Ann leaves with all of us is how important her family was to her.
