Philip Boner
Philip Boner, 84, 1825 Kennedy retired Katy employee who had lived here since a youth, died at 4:10 a.m. today at the Katy hospital.
He had been in the hospital since Tuesday after suffering a stroke Monday. For the past serveral years he had been in poor health.
Boner was a charter member of Knights of Columbus council 643, Parsons, and a member of the Hold Name Society. He was past general chirman of the B of L.F. and F of the Katy system. Born near Streator,Ill. Feb 8,1966.Boner at the age of 12 came with his parents to the Ladore vicinity where they settled on a farm. He went to work for the Katy in 1889 as a laborer in the round house. After 47 years of service, he retired in 1936 as a locomotive engineer.
The early day resident was married to Emma Kipp on May 23, 1899 at St. Patricks church in Parsons. They celebrated their golden wedding in 1949.
Survivors include his wife, four sons, Hugh, Joe, and William of Paarsons and Charles of Redwood City Calif. three daughters: Mrs. Frank Agnew, Salt Lake City Utah, Mrs Edwin Davis Olympia Washington, and Mrs Ira Haskett 613 North 13th: a brother David Boner Minneapolis, a sister Ella Boner Dengler Kansas City Kansas and 15 grandchildren, four great grand children. The body is at the Carson funeral home. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 o'clock tonight by the St. Patricks alter society at 8:30 tomorrow night by Fr. E.I. Gunning and at 8:45 tomorrow night by the Knights of Columbus.Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Patricks with Fr. Gunning officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetary.
