Raymond Thomas

Raymond Thomas, age 88, of Basehor, Kan., passed away November 14, 2008, at his home due to complications of Alzheimer's disease.

Raymond was born September 14, 1920, near Long Lane, Mo. He moved to Kansas City, Kan., in 1946, and then to Basehor, Kan., in 1959, where he farmed for almost 50 years. He also worked at the GM Fairfax Plant for 32 years.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Bartlett, and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lela Thomas; daughters Pamela Freeman, Janet Atkins and Cindy Whited; son Brian Thomas; brothers Loran and Howard Thomas; sister Zelma Larimer; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives who will greatly miss him.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, November 16, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kan. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 17, at Stony Point Church of Christ, 7920 Kansas Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Interment will follow in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, Shawnee, Kan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Luke's Hospice of Leavenworth, who both gave the family wonderful help and support. Arrangements: Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, (913) 334-3366.
