Utica Daily Press, Tuesday, July 5, 1938 - Wilbur Monk Sr. – 61, Lassellsville, died at his home Sunday morning after a long illness. He was born in Lassellsville, the son of the late Marshall and Emma Butler Monk. He spent his entire life in that community, where he operated a farm. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sarah Monk, three daughters, Mrs. Mahlom Cromer and Mrs. Edna Cole, this village, Mrs. Fred Clemons, Lassellsville, three sons, Emerson, Milborn and Wilbur Monk Jr., Lassellsville, two sisters, Mrs. Frank Soules and Mrs. Seward Countyman, this village, also several grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held from the Lassellsville Methodist Church today at 2-p.m. following a prayer service at the home at 1:30. The Rev. C. Frederick Miller, pastor of the St. Johnsville and Lassellsville Methodist Episcopal Churches will officiate.

Mr. Monk was born in Lassellsville September 4, 1876, son of the late Marshall Monk and Emma Butler Monk. He spent his entire life in that community, where he operated a farm. He is survived by his wife,. Sarah Ropeter Monk; three daughters, Mrs. Mahlon (Beatrice) Cromer and Mrs. Edna Cole, this village, and Mrs. Fred (Ethel) Clemons of Lassellsville; three sons, Emerson, Mllburn and Wilbur Monk, Jr., all of Lassellsville; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Chloe) Soules and Mrs. Seward (Margaret) Countryman, both of this village. The funeral was held at the Lassellsville Methodist Church this afternoon at 2 o'clock, preceded by a prayer service at the home at 1:30 o'clock. The Rev. C. Frederick Miller, pastor of the St. Johnsville and Lassellsville Methodist Churches, officiated. Interment was in the Dempster Cemetery in Lassellsville.
