Vincenzo Romano was the youngest of three children born to Giuseppe Romano and Teresa Pugliesi. He was born in Giojosa-Jonica, Reggio, Calabria, Italy. He had an older sister Caterina and an older brother Rocco, who remained in Ardore, Reggio, Calabria, Italy.

He married Filomena Correale, the daughter of Carlo Correale and Francesca Caterina Marzano, on 31 Oct 1889 at San Leonardo Roman Catholic Church, Ardore, Reggio, Calabria, Italy.

They had three children: Maria Antonia Teresa Caterina in 1890, Giuseppe Pasquale in 1895 and Maria Annunziata in 1898. Filomena died and he married Rosa Critelli. Rosa and Vincenzo had ten children, including two which died in infancy: Tomas in 1901, Luigi 1904, Teresa in 1908, Angelina in 1909, Florence Rosa in 1911, Concetta Caterina in 1913, Filomena in 1917, Lena in 1921 and Stella.

Vincenzo immigrated to Philadelphia and in 1905, his wife Rosa, daughter Maria Antonia Teresa Caterina, and sons Tomas and Luigi followed. His son Giuseppe Pasquale and daughter Maria Annuziata immigrated later. The rest of the children were born in Philadelphia, PA and Hopewell, VA. Eventually he settled in Cliffside Park, NJ.
